Getting ready for The Tour de Fleece...

This year I'm a participant in The Tour de Fleece, my first year so I'm a rookie at this I decided to buy some prepared fibers as I didn't received any Pickwick fleece yet.

I have pick the June Spinzilla Fibre Packs from Louet at the  Boutique Fibre Detours  it's a very nice assortment of fibers.

Merino/silk

Karaoke... wool/soysilk

wool/mohair

Tencel

Llama

and of course some silk

plus 4 packs of 100g of  colourful merino this should keep me spinning this July.

I'm cleaning the wheel wiping all oil residues and getting it all clean and ready for more oil.

Corriedale

A friend brought me some Ashford Corriedale to spin, 

very nice but I feel it a little hard on my fingers skin to spin this fiber,

still I like it.

It's making a nice 2 ply.

Washed and fulled

2 ply of nice and squishy yarn is the result, the colour is deeper more like red wine.  I wouldn't grade this next to skin but more outwear wool grade.

Keep your wool safe

Since I only use natural fibers and I don't buy yarn as most are dyed and dipped into pesticides to keep the moths away... well many people might find they are not allergic to wool or lanolin  but to the chemicals used at the processing mills while dying.

I simply buy few planks of red cedar, I put those in the closets and use lavender sachets in the drawers, you can always use some lavender essential oil to refresh the sachets.  The bugs won't bug you and won't feast on your wool, better be safe than sorry, this is very simple and natural no harmful chemicals.

It's not very expensive or complicate and it's working great.
